- (12.20) The Balck Dahlia
Murder welcomes former Arsis guitarist Ryan Knight as the
replacement for John Kempainen, who left the band last month.
- (12.20) Slipknot's
latest album, "All Hope Is Gone", was officially certified gold on
December 9, 2008 for shipments in excess of 500,000 copies. According
to Nielsen SoundScan, the album has shifted 592,000 units in the United
States since its release August 26th 2008.

- (12.19) Angelcorpse
has announced the addition of drummer Warhead (Naer Mataeron, Embrace
Of Thorns) into the group's ranks. The band is working on a 4 song EP
to be released in early 2009.

will perform on January 31, 2009 at the Asylum in Hockley, Birmingham,

- (12.03) Bassist Erlend Caspersen (Deeds of
Flesh, Vile) has joined Spawn of
Possession. The band is working on music for a new album.

has said he's already got an album title in mind for their next album,
the album may take a little longer than expected, so the chance of it
coming out next summer is a bit optimistic, and the band will re-enter
the studios on Feb 1st to continue recording.

- (11.21) "NoN", the latest album from The Amenta
(Reviewed on this webzine Nov 18th), will receive a U.S. release on
February 10, 2009 via Listenable Records. The album is already out in
Europe.
- (11.20) "Ezkaton", the new EP from Behemoth,
sold around 1,600 copies in the United States in its first week of
release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
- (11.20) "Planetary Duality", the new album from The Faceless,
sold around 5,600 copies in the United States in its first week of
release to land at position No. 119 on The Billboard 200 chart.

busy in the studio working on their new album. They hope to have it
ready by January.

e.v.", live versions of "From The Pagan Vastlands" and "Decade Ov
Therion" plus covers of The Ramones' "I'm Not Jesus" and the Masters
Hammer track "Jama Pekel".

couple of weeks in a Southern
California recording studio earlier this month, recording three new
songs for a brand new album expected out summer 2009.

vocalist Gus Chambers passed away on October 13, 2008 in Coventry,
England at the age of 52. He took his own life.

are rumored to have lost their European record deal with Roadrunner
Records, which released the band's latest album, "Threads of Life". The
group's U.S. deal with Atlantic Records is also said to be on shaky
ground, with "Threads of Life"
having only shifted around 98,000 copies in the United States since its
April 2007 release — a fraction of the 308,000 sales total achieved by
its predecessor, 2004's "The War Within", which was released by Century
Media.

entitled "The Art of an Endless Creation" on October 27 in Europe via

The package will contain a DVD featuring a concert the band played in
2005 at the Metalmania Festival in Katowice, Poland as well as bonus
video clips for the songs "Lion of Knowledge" and "The Art of an
Endless Creation", a bootleg video from a gig the band played as part
of Empire Invasion Tour 2004 (at which they were joined by Decapitated
drummer Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka), bonus audio (featuring Dies Irae's
entire 1996 demo "Fear of God") and more.

sold just under 5,000 copies in the United States in its first week of

has parted ways with guitarist Mike Keller to become a 4 piece. The
reasons for the change are not totally clear.

- (09.04) Slipknot's
fourth album, "All Hope Is Gone", has claimed the coveted #1 debut slot
on Billboard's Top 200 chart, after a SoundScan recount. The album was
initially announced as a #2 debut, 13 units behind The Game's #1 debut,
marking the closest margin in SoundScan history. The chart positions
resulted from a reported 238,272 copies of "All Hope Is Gone" its first
week in stores, while The Game's "LAX" reported 238,285. Roadrunner
Records and WEA requested a recount. SoundScan obliged and chart
positions have been reversed, with Slipknot claiming #1 and a new
margin of 1134 albums. Final recount numbers are 239,516 for "All Hope
Is Gone" and 238,382 for "LAX" sold during first week of release.

have announced the addition of drummer Joe Bondra from Pennsylvania to
the group's ranks. The band is still looking for a new bassist.
Aug 2008
- (08.31) Vader
drummer Dariusz "Daray" Brzozowski and guitarist Maurycy "Mauser"
Stefanowicz have left the band. Daray will join the Norwegian black
metal group Dummu Borgir while Mauser will reportedly concentrate on
his Unsun project. Their rumored replacements are former Lost Soul
drummer Adam Sierzega and either Jacek Hiro from Sceptic or Waclaw
"Vogg" Kieltyka from Decapitated
on guitar.
- (08.31) Bury Your Dead
has officially parted ways with guitarist Eric Ellis
due to "medical reasons and personality differences." His replacement
in the group is longtime friend and former bandmate Chris Towning.
- (08.30) According to Machine Head,
the band will tour till the end of 2009, will write a new album in
2010, and release it in 2011.
- (08.29) George Kollias, drummer for Nile, has
released his first drumming instructional DVD. Go here

is working on new material.

are in writing mode on a new album. They hope to be finished writing by

airports, it's the letter of the law, and not the spirit of the law
that gets followed.

will release a "Forsaken" digital EP. The title track will be the album
version, followed by two live tracks recorded last year in Spain:
