- (12.15) Meshuggah's
new album "Catch 33" has been set a tentative release date of April 11,
2005 in Europe. Like their recent EP "I", this album will also be one
long song, but a full length long song this time.

Lad's "For Those Aboot To Rock" DVD.
- (12.13) Arch Enemy
will start rehearsing for their new album in January, hopefully start
recording in March for a summer release, and hope to release a DVD in
the new year.

are almost done writing the new album, and hope to be in the studio by
January.

about their reunion and work on a new album.
- (12.13) Scarve's
upcoming show in Paris on December 11 2004 will be entirely recorded
and
filmed for a future DVD release.

will release a live DVD in June of 2005 called "A Night In Flames".
- (12.13) In the continuing Dimebag Darrell
shooting story, the police apparently do have video footage of the
show, including the fateful shooting, and are inspecting it now. And here's another NCBi video report on the subject. And
a CBS video report. A public memorial for Darrell will
be held at the Arlington Convention Center in Arlington, Texas on
Tuesday, December 14.

(formerly of Pantera)
has been shot and killed, along with 4 other people, including the
gunman, at a concert in Ohio. Here are a few links to articles about

personal note, I've always been a big Pantera fan, and Darrell's guitar
playing and songwriting have always been an inspiration to me since I
was a teenager. We're gonna miss you dude, RIP.
- (12.06) All but one of the new Nile
songs for the new album have been fully written and arranged. They hope
to have the drum tracks recorded by December 18th, then a break for the
holidays, then return to Columbia on January 8th to track everything
else, and then
mix it at RaxTrax in Chicago.
- (12.06) Immolation's
"Bringing Down the World" DVD will be
issued in North America in the spring.
- (12.06) Slipknot
will be releasing a limited tour edition of "Vol. 3
(The Subliminal Verses)" on January 10, 2005 in Australia. The
double CD
will include the standard 14-track CD with a bonus 7-track CD which is
comprised of live and rare tracks. The cover is available here.

Lad's new album will be out March 22, 2005 on Century Media.
- (12.06) Slayer
will get together to start practicing the songs for their new album the
first week of the year year.

is writing music on the road for their next album, to be recorded early

enter Trident
Studios in Pacheco, California on March 1st to begin recording their
third full-length CD, tentatively due May / June 2005 on Listenable

Flesh album "The Conjoined", the writing is done, the guitars
and drums are recorded, they still have to do bass and keyboards and
then vocals.

their version of Pink Floyd's "Another
Brick in the Wall" on "The Howard Stern Show" on Thursday Dec 2nd.
- (12.06) Dustin Pearl has joined Grimfist
as their new drummer.
- (12.06) Anthrax's
"The Greater of Two Evils"
has sold 3,421 copies in the United States in its first week of
release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "We've
Come For You All" has sold 61,561 copies in the U.S. since its May
2003 release.
- (12.06) Severe Torture
will release their
final album for Karmageddon Media (formerly known as Hammerheart
Records), "Blood Letting", on February 7, 2005. The album will be a
live album with

in January.

new album will simply be called "Apocalyptica".
- (11.29) James Murphy
is still hard at work recording for the Death tribute CD, and recently
recorded with Dino Cazares, Istvan Lendvay, Jeff Loomis, Albert
Gonzales, Matt Wicklund, Tim Calvert and others. Still more recording
to be done next year.
- (11.29) Machine Head
performed their classic debut album "Burn My Eyes" in its entirety on
Friday November 26 in Manchester, U.K. This is the only European show
they'll be doing this for, and it was filmed for possible inclusion on
their live DVD to be released sometime next year. "Burn My Eyes" has
sold approximately 155,000 copies in the U.S. to date according to
Nielsen SoundScan.
- (11.29) Andreas Kisser of Sepultura
speaks about the new DVD and plans for a new album: "With regards to
the timetable for the upcoming album, we have some plans, we're still
writing, we'll go back to Brazil in January and February, finish the
writing process in those months and depending how things go we will
probably release a DVD of live stuff, which we've never done before,
especially with Derrick, and maybe do another tour in the summer, in
Europe. I think the album will come in the second half of the year,
next year."

drummer Jason Bittner is featured in the January 2005 issue of Modern
Drummer magazine, on sale Dec 2nd.

will start being recorded Dec 9th for a April 2005 release.

are working on new material, they have 5 songs done and hope to have
the rest of the material finished by the end of the year.

drummer Mike Portnoy will be releasing a DVD via his Portnoy Archives
label containing Mike's drum-cam footage from the "Live At Budokan"
show filmed on April 26, 2004. Audio options include Full Band,
Isolated Drums and an Audio Commentary with Mike. This will start

Factory song "Act of God". No idea if that will end up on the
remix album Fear Factory have planned.

the record label if you got one of the faulty first pressings.
- (11.22) Zaraza
will spend most of 2005 writing music for their new album "Abyss of the
Primitive", to be released probably in early 2006. Expect a much
heavier album with less symphonic elements, according to the band.
- (11.22) Napalm Death's
new album should be out March of next year.
- (11.22) Shadow's Fall's
"The War Within" album has just passed the 100,000 mark via U.S.
Nielsen SoundScan sales in just under eight weeks. It sold 39,251
copies in it's first week. The band is getting some interest from some
major labels now that their current deal with Century Media is done,
but the band has made no decision on whether it will go with them
instead of staying with their current label.
- (11.22) Karl Willetts has rejoined Bolt Thrower as
their permanent vocalist. The band will spend the next few weeks
finishing up work on new material before entering the studio.
- (11.22) Sepultura
have recorded some of their shows on their German tour for a DVD to be
released next spring.
- (11.22) Matt Connell has joined Exhumed
as their new drummer.
- (11.22) Cannibal Corpse
lead singer George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher was rushed to a hospital on
Tuesday Nov. 16 causing him to miss the group's show in Pittsburgh the
next night. The band played an instrumental set and were eventually
joined by Kataklysm frontman Maurizo who helped out with the vocals. It
was later revealed Fisher had a viral lung infection. He is recovering,
and hopes to perform the last shows of the tour.

have released a 15
second clip from their new DVD to be released Feb of next year.

frontman Jeff Walker has revealed that he is currently recording a solo
album consisting of country and blues covers from artists including
Sketter Davis, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Connie Smith and John
Denver, although the music will have a metal twist to it. Former
Carcass drummer Ken Owen may also contribute to the project.

but also laryngitis. However, he refuses to cancel any performances

CD will be out February 8, 2005 in the US. Due to such a long wait
between the european and american releases, Century Media will be
putting 2 bonus tracks on the album, previously unreleased demo
recordings of "Breeding Death" EP, as well as a new cover.

shot live footage for their upcoming DVD at the Medley in Montreal on
Saturday, October 9. The band were joined on stage by ex-Cryptopsy
vocalist Martin Lacroix and several former guitarists at various points

Canadian tour, Dan Mongrain (Martyr, Gorguts) will join the band as
second guitarist (filling in for permanent member Jon Levasseur)
beginning in Quebec City and Montreal on October 8 and 9. Their new
album is now schedule for a summer / fall 2005 release.

of release, debuting at #20 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart according to
soundscan. This is the highest first-week SoundScan and Billboard chart
debut of any Century Media band to date. Their previous album, "The Art
Of Balance", sold over 100,000 copies, making it the best selling
Century Media album to date.

performed a special show at the Roxy in West Hollywood, CA Sept. 26,
where they played their most recent album "Soundtrack To Your Escape"
in its entirety (seems like every band is doing this now days, I assume
thanks to Dream Theater who seem to have started this trend). The 2nd

have finished writing their new album, and hope to record it soon with
producer Pierre Remillard. They will be touring this fall and the
setlist will include the band playing their album "None So Vile" in its
entirety.

has signed with Relapse, and their next album called "Epitaph" will be
out July 20th.
- (06.07) Slipknot's
new album has sold 242,683 copies in the U.S. in its first week of

and the band plans on recording a new EP in late June.

will be releasing a DVD this fall called "The Dehumanizing Process",

will start working on a new studio album in August for a spring 2005
release.
- (05.30) Meshuggah
will release their new EP called "I" on July 13th. Their new
full-length album will be out early

have signed with Century Media. Guitarist Jesse Pintado has come back
to the band after several months of break where he dealt with some
personal issues. Their next album will be an album of covers called

longtime guitarist Jack Owen has left the band, saying his heart just
wasn't in the genre anymore. The group is currently

will be reloacting to Malibu in a few weeks to start the 3 month
recording process for their new album, to be released before the end of

cd will be called "Nightmares Made Flesh" and will be out before the

have broken up. Rachel, Ron and Aad will continue playing together as
part of a new band, Infinited Hate.

Mike" Chlasciak (formerly of Halford) will be playing lead guitar for Testament
on their European tour this summer, replacing recently departed Steve
Smyth. The band is planning to start recording their new album later
this spring, for a 2004 release.

late summer release. Dan Swano has left the drumming spot and is now

planning on auctioning off. Now, they plan instead on having a "flood

hopes of persuading people to contribute to the cause. Also, a Devin
related forum should be going up soon.

- (02.22) Apparently Gustaf Hielm
has left Meshuggah
as bass player (or has been asked to leave) to be replaced by Dick

- (02.22) Morbid Angel
and Suffocation
will be performing at Slim's in San Francisco on May 1st.
- (02.21) Former Slayer
drummer Paul Bostaph has officially joined Testament.
The band is planning to enter the studio in April/May to begin
recording a new album for a late 2004 release through Spitfire Records.
- (02.20) Doc, drummer for Vader,
has injured himself while recording their new album. He will recover,
but it will take quite some time, so meanwhile the recording has been
postponed till may, and the band will have to use a session drummer
(Daray from Polish black metal band Vesania) to do the recording. The
album is expected in September.
- (02.20) Aborted
will be releasing a new EP called "The
Haematobic" on Apri 19th. The EP will have 11 tracks, 3 new songs, and
a bunch of unreleased stuff.
- (02.12) In a recent notice from Malevolent
Creation, they want to let the public know that a bootleg of one
of their shows has been released by Metal Mind music in Europe, and
they highly recommend not buying it, since the show quality is
exceptionally poor, and the DVD was released without their permission
or wishes. The band will release an official DVD later this summer.
They're also going to start recording their new album tomorrow, for a
June release date.
- (02.10) The new Slipknot
album will be out May 25th 2004. The band will soon be going on tour
with Fear
Factory and Chimaira.
- (02.05) Apparently Cannibal Corpse's

facelift.

CD has been mastered.
- (01.25) Drummer John Longstreth has left Skinless,
citing creative differences, and will be the new tour drummer for Exhumed.
Replacing him in Skinless will be former drummer Bob "The Big Guns"
Beaulac (he did the drums for their "Foreshadowing Our Demise" album).
- (01.25) According to the news at Toolband.com, Tool are
writing and arranging material for a new album.

I know there's talks of Japan, Australia, doing another big tour in the

- (01.12) Dream Theater
will be performing in San Francisco at the Warfield on Mar 05, 2004,
and at the The Pantages Theater in Los Angeles Mar 06, 2004. There will
be no opening act, 2 sets with an intermission.
- (01.12) Devin Townsend
will be releasing two cds at the end of Feb. "Ass-sordid II" with all
the old demos from his early bands Noisescapes and Grey Skies as well
as a bunch of songs from even earlier in his career. The disc will be
72 minutes. The second is called "Devlab", an ambient recording that's
guaranteed to be pretty bizarre. Both cds will only be available
through the HDR website.
- (01.12) Strapping Young
Lad will film a DVD on Friday, January 16 at the Commodore
Ballroom in Vancouver, British Columbia. The band will also be
recording a new album this summer.
- (01.12) Vile's
lineup for the upcoming tour will be Colin Davis (guitar), Matt Faivre
(bass), Origin's James Lee on vocals, Reno Kiilerich on drums and new
lead guitarist Lucas Jaeger.
- (01.12) Chimaira
have parted ways with drummer Andy Herrick and have replaced him with
Soilwork's Drummer Richard Evensand. The split is an amicable one, Andy
has decided to go back to college and get away from touring for awhile.

and Uphill Battle will be performing in San Francisco at the Pound on
Jan 29th.
