• (12.19) Napalm Death will start writing a new album in the beginning of next year.
• (12.19) Korn's "See You on the Other Side" has sold 221,000 copies in its first week of release, which puts it in the #3 slot on the Billboard 200 chart. Their last album "Take A Look In The Mirror" sold 96,000 in its first week (the album was released 4 days early, the resulting confusion may account for the significant drop), "Untouchables" sold 434,000 and "Issues" sold 584,000.

• (12.19) Kyle Symons, vocalist for Malevolent Creation, won't be doing the band's european tour due to personal reasons. Mainman Phil Fasciana has replaced him with former vocalist Brett Hoffman. He has also stated that if things go well on the tour, Brett may permanently replace Kyle as vocalist for the band, and he may do vocals for their new album they plan to record next year.
• (12.19) A three-minute video interview with Death mainman Chuck Schuldiner and Gene Hoglan conducted by MTV's "Headbanger's Ball" in Amsterdam, Holland in April 1995, has been posted here. Chuck died on Dec 13th 2001, 4 years ago, from a brain tumor.
• (12.19) Negativa, the new band featuring several former Gorguts members, will record their first demo in March.

• (12.12) Guitarist Rob Barrett has officially rejoined Cannibal Corpse as a permanent replacement for guitarist Jack Owen, who left the band in 2004. The new album will be called "Kill", and will be out March 21st 2006.
  
• (12.12) Devolved have announced the permanent addition of vocalist Kyle Zemanek to the group's ranks. Kyle is the former singer of Los Angeles-based metal band Deadsett.

• (12.12) Nine Inch Nails has parted ways with recently recruited drummer Alex Carapetis. Temporarily replacing him on tour is A Perfect Circle's Josh Freese.
  
• (12.12) Divine Empire has added second guitarist Chris Defaut to the group's ranks. He joins guitarist Marco Martell, drummer David Kinkade and bassist/vocalist Jason Blachowicz to complete the lineup.

• (12.12) Shadows Fall have finally signed their long-rumored U.S. major-label deal with Atlantic Records. Their new album is being written now and will be co-produced by Zeuss and is tentatively expected to be out in the late summer.
  
• (12.12) Dream Theater are rumored to be planning a very special 20th anniversary show at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City sometime in early 2006. The concert, the exact date for which will be announced soon, will reportedly be filmed for an upcoming DVD.

• (11.28) Koldborn are currently looking for a label to release their second album "The Uncanny Valley". The album will be mixed in January 2006 by Jacob Bredahl and is should be out spring 2006.
• (11.28) Korn's new album, "See You on the Other Side", will be available for streaming in its entirety at MTV Italy starting November 29th.
• (11.24) Oath To Vanquish have 2 mp3s from their upcoming album downloadable from their site. The album is called "Applied Schizophrenic Science" and the band is seeking a label on which to release it.
  
• (11.23) Psycroptic have signed a new record deal with Neurotic Records. They'll release their third album entitled "Symbols Of Failure" on the label in February of 2006.
• (11.23) Obscenity are busy recording their new album "Where Sinners Bleed". The guitars and drums are done, the vocals are still pending.
• (11.23) 7th Nemesis's first album "Violentia Imperatrix Mundi" will be out soon.

• (11.22) Bolt Thrower would like it to be known that the rerelease of "Realm of Chaos" on Earcahe is without their permission, and they won't be seeing royalities from its sale, so they ask fans to boycott the album.

• (11.15) Hate has announced the addition of guitarist Hellbeast to the group.
• (11.15) Drummer Tony Laureano (formerly of Nile) and bassist Bart Williams (Today I Wait) will be joining The Black Dahlia Murder on their upcoming tour.
• (11.15) Tool will be releasing a DVD before the end of the year which will contain some of their more recent music videos. This is not the Live DVD that the band will release at some future date.

The band's performance at B.B. King's in New York City Nov 7th was filmed for a segment of Fuse TV's "Metal Asylum" 100th episode special, the show included a live performance of 'Spheres Of Madness'.

• (11.15) Rob Zombie's new album should be out in March of next year, and despite previous interviews, he says that it's unlikely he'll do films exclusively, and will probably continue to flip-flop between music and films.

• (11.08) Fleshgrind have officially split up. Their vocalist Rich Lispcomb decided he needed a change in his life and left the band. The remaining members have decided that instead of getting a new vocalist, they'll start a brand new project in the future. Go here for more info on the breakup.
  
• (11.08) Drummer Zach Gibson and bassist David Lock have been kicked out of The Black Dahlia Murder because "they couldn't actually play our material".
• (11.07) Anata have completed the recording of their new album. No release date has been set.
  
• (11.07) On A Dead Machine is currently in the studio with producer GGGarth (Rage Against the Machine, Mudvein, Atreyu, Spineshank) in Vancouver, Canada working on a full length album to be released in early 2006.

• (11.03) Devolved have announced the addition of guitarist Brett Carpio to the band. Also, former bass player Leighton Kearns has rejoined the band. The group are writing music in Los Angeles, and still plan on releasing their "Automation 002" EP in Australia soon.
• (11.01) Gorguts is officially no more, however founder Luc Lemay will still release the planned live CD and DVD. Luc's spent the last year or so doing wood working, same samples can be found here and here. Music wise, he plans on working on his new project Negativa.
• (11.01) There will be a CD copy of Testament's "Live In London" as well as the DVD copy.

Oct 2005

• (10.26) Drawn & Quartered's new album will now be called "Hail Infernal Darkness" and will be out early 2006.
  
• (10.26) Martyr will enter the studio in November to record their 3rd album. The song writing process is almost completed.
• (10.25) Added a review to Cryptopsy's "Once Was Not" album.
• (10.25) The Exhumed Covers album "Regurgitated Requiems: Garbage Daze Re-Regurgitated" is out now on Listenable.
  
• (10.25) The new Hate album "Anaclasis" will be out this month.
• (10.25) Devin Townsend has been working on a new instrumental electronic record called "Hummer". It's described as "specifically designed to be neutral, to make you fall asleep and keep you asleep." HDR hopes it have it ready as a website only product sometime next year.
  
• (10.25) Eighteen Visions is writing music for a new album to be released June of 2006 on Epic Records.
• (10.25) Dying Fetus are still looking for a new drummer. The band is writing music for their next album which they hope to record sometime this fall or winter.
  
• (10.25) Spawn Of Possession have signed a multi-album deal with Neurotic Records. The band will enter Pama Studios in Kristianopel, Sweden in January/February with producer Magnus Sedenberg to record their new album, expected in the spring or summer of 2006. Half the songs have been written for the album.
  
• (10.25) Former Nasum drummer Anders Jakobson, former Nasum bassist/vocalist Jon and Urban on guitar are looking at jamming together and writing some new music. The group states that this is NOT Nasum part 2, but an entirely different project which may become something bigger in the future, but right now they're just jamming and seeing what happens.
• (10.23) On A Dead Machine will be participating in the 2005 Voodoo Music Experience in Memphis, the headliner will be Nine Inch Nails.
  
• (10.22) Krisiun have finished recording their new album, and are mastering it for an early 2006 release.
  
• (10.22) Release of the Nasum "Grind Finale" CD has been pushed back to January 26th due to the printer messing up the booklet.
  
• (10.17) Unmerciful, the band comprised of former members of Origin, now have samples of their music up on their website and on myspace. Their new album is done and they're looking for a label.
  
• (10.16) Origin have parted ways with Clinton Appelhanz (guitar, vocals) and James King (drums) due to "personal and creative differences".
• (10.16) On October 11 at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, Dream Theater performed Pinky Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" in its entirety as their second set. They will play it again on October 25 for the second night of their two-night stand at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.

• (10.16) Great White North Records will be releasing a Gorguts live DVD (a show from the Whisky in LA on the "Obscura" tour) mid 2006. A live concert CD from 1993 will also be released in early 2006. In related news, former Gorguts members Steeve Hurdle (guitar, vocals) and Luc Lemay (guitar, vocals) have joined forces in a new project called Negativa. The band will be entering the studio this winter to record music for a new promo. The other members of the band are Dominic Lapointe (Quo Vadis) on bass and Etienne Gallo (Augury) on drums.

• (10.16) A Perfect Circle drummer Josh Freese has joined Nine Inch Nails as their touring drummer after their previous drummer had to leave the tour due to a heart condition.

• (10.04) Two brand-new Akercocke songs, "Verdelet" and "The Penance", have been posted online here. They come off the new album "Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone" that will be out in early 2006.
  
• (10.04) Bad numbers for Anthrax's "new" cds and DVDs. Their best-of CD has only sold 2,700 copies it's first week, 950 copies of the DVD. Their reunion CD sold 1,100 copies and the DVD sold 1,700 copies. On a personal note, maybe this is what it'll take to persuade the band to getting back to making new material instead of rereleasing old stuff again and again.
  
• (10.04) Jerome Dillon, live drummer for Nine Inch Nails, is back in hospital, and is undergoing tests for a recently discovered heart condition. The band had to cancel their appearance in Oakland on the 30th, the concert has been rescheduled for Nov 19th. They are now looking for a replacement drummer. Trent states that Jerome's heart condition is not as a result of a drug or alcohol problem. 
• (10.04) Shadows Fall's "The Art Of Touring" DVD will be out Nov 15th. The band's current album "The War Within" has sold close to 250,000 units during it's first year of release.
  
• (10.04) Kerry King of Slayer states in a new Metal Hammer interview that the band hopes to start recording their long delayed new album this month.
  
• (10.04) Machine Head are now in writing mode for their next album.
  
• (10.04) Christian Donaldson from Mythosis will be the new second guitar player for Cryptopsy on their current tour.

• (09.28) In a recent Revolver interview, John Bush, "former" vocalist for Anthrax has stated he probably won't play with the band again. The band continues to be vague about whether they will ask John to be part of the group again or whether they will keep Joey Belladonna as vocalist.

Most record deals are for far less, but the band gets most if not all revenue from publishing and touring. Their latest 'best of' album has sold 967,000 copies in the US.

The band will continue in reunion mode for the rest of the year doing tours, and they have no idea if the band will remain in it's reunion status or if John will come back, they're just going to take things as they come.
  
• (05.02) Sinister have reformed, however, they have gone through a rather profound change. Aad Kloosterwaard, drummer and founder of the band, will be the new vocalist. Bass player Alex Paul will switch to guitar while newcomer Paul Beltman shall be the new drummer. A bass player will be added when the band hits the road again. The band will record a new album at the end of this year.
  
• (05.02) Satariel's new album "Hydra" should be out this June. The band has just finished mixing the release.
  
• (05.02) Malevolent Creation, Origin, Divine Empire and Animosity will be teaming up for a U.S. tour beginning in early July. The band will come through San Francisco on July 19th, no venue has been announced yet.

• (05.02) Hate will be entering Hertz studio in Bialystok, Poland in early summer to begin recording their new album, "Anaclasis", for an October release on Listenable Records. The album will contain 8 new tracks.
  
• (05.02) Cannibal Corpse will enter Mana Studios in Tampa, Florida in October with producer Erik Rutan (Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal) to begin recording their new album, due out in 2006. On a personal note, considering the sound the last Hate Eternal album had, I really hope the production on this album comes out well. The band still hasn't announced a permanent replacement for guitarist Jack Owen.
• (05.02) Blood Duster's DVD will be called "The Shape of Death to Come", and it, along with a re-release of the band's "Fisting the Dead" (with the "Sounds of Ordinary Madness" compilation tracks as well) will be out as soon as the band solidifies a new record deal.

• (03.28) The original "Among The Living" lineup of Anthrax, Scott Ian (guitar), Joey Belladonna (vocals), Charlie Benante (drums), Dan Spitz (guitar) and Frank Bello (bass) have reunited for some european festivals. However, Scott reiterated that current vocalist John Bush is not out of the band, the reunion is a temporary thing.
  
• (03.28) Vader have parted ways with drummer Doc, who just couldn't focus on the band anymore (A wife and newborn baby may have had something to do with it). Daray will be their new permanent drummer, who's work can be heard on the band's latest album "The Beast". In other news, the band has also left Metal Blade records, and signed with Sweden's Regain Records.
• (03.28) In an interview with Jed Simon of Strapping Young Lad available here, he says the Tom Jones cover of 'What's New Pussycat' was never actually finished, they started recording it and then decided it sucked and so they didn't finish recording it. • (03.28) The Japanese version of Nine Inch Nails' new album "With Teeth" will include three bonus tracks: 'Home', and remixes of 'Right Where It Belongs' and 'The Hand that Feeds'. • (03.21) Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has asked the band's longtime attorney Peter Paterno to try and defuse the situation between Beatallica (the band whose work combines that of Metallica and the Beattles) and Sony, who previously hit them with a cease-and-desist order. Apparently, thanks to the intervention, Beatallica's website will soon be back online, and the legal matter will be dropped.

• (02.28) Nile have parted ways with bassist Jon Vesano, whose day job was incompatible with Nile's touring schedule. They will use former Morbid Angel front man Steve Tucker and Krieshloff of Lecherous for the upcoming tour (Steve will handle Europe, Krieshloff America), and then look for a more permanent replacement.
  
• (02.28) Dream Theater wrapped up recording on their latest album on Feb 25th. Mixing will be begin on today and the record will be delivered to the label in mid-March. A release is expected for sometime around May/June.

• (02.23) Guitarist Alex Skolnick has issued a statement confirming his participation in the upcoming Testament reunion tour with vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarist Eric Peterson, bassist Greg Christian and drummer Johnny Tempesta. As to whether this will lead to further touring or even a recording, Alex says no decisions have been made, but he's open to anything that may come his way.
  
• (02.23) Lamb of God has been banned from performing at The Forum in Los Angeles. The Faithful Central Bible Church, owners of the forum decided to ban Lamb of God because of their name as well as their previous name, Burn the Priest.

• (02.23) In very sad news, they have found and identified the body of Mieszko Talarczyk of Nasum, who was indeed killed in the Tsunami Disaster that occurred on December 26th, 2004 in Thailand. Mieszko was an amazing guitar player and vocalist, and he will be sorely missed. Nasum is obviously unsure about what future the band may have.

• (02.08) Cryptopsy will record their fifth album during the summer months of 2005. The instructional drum video from Flo Mounier will be out this summer.
• (02.08) Slipknot will be the featured musical guests on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" on Tuesday, March 1. Their latest album has sold 950,613 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
• (02.08) Testament are expected to enter the studio in the spring to begin recording their new album, tentatively due later in the year.
• (02.07) Ytsejam Records have released 3 new Dream Theater Bootlegs. The first is "When Dream And Day Reunite", on CD and DVD, which is their famous show in Los Angeles playing their first album in its entirety on the album's 15th year anniversary (highly recommended, I was at the show live and it was spectacular). The second is "Images and Words Demos 1989 - 1991", which should be self explanatory. And last is "The Number Of The Beast" which is Dream Theater Live in France playing the famous Iron Maiden album in it's entirety.

The album will contain 3 bonus tracks and 4 videos. • (01.24) Vader will enter Hertz Studio in Bialystok in early July to record a brand new EP under the working title of "The Art of War". The EP will contain 3 super-fast tracks, and one standard Vader song. It will also contain a special bonus video clip for the title track. The band has finished their current deal with Metal Blade and are currently in negotiation with other labels for a new deal.
  
• (01.24) The Guitar World tribute to Dimebag Darrell will be their March 2005 issue.
  
• (01.24) Prong guitarist/vocalist Tommy Victor and drummer Dan Laudo have been working on 10 new songs and hope to get into the recording studio soon and lay them down.

• (01.18) Found a cool website called ObituariesQc, a site dedicated to the dearly departed bands of Quebec. It's a great resource for anyone looking up info on disbanded groups such as Obliveon, Sarkasm, Necrotic Mutation, Foreshadow, etc.
  
• (01.18) Skinless have added vocalist Jason Keyser, brother of bassist Joe Keyser, to the band. He replaces Sherwood Webber who left to pursue other interests. The band expects to release a new album before the end of the year.
  
• (01.18) Testament will release a DVD called "Seen Between the Lines", previously only available on VHS. It will contain a live set recorded during the band's 1991 world tour, four promotional music videos, rare video interview clips, and exclusive behind-the-scenes and candid footage of the early years of the band.

• (01.18) The Deftones are no longer using producer Terry Date for their new album (Terry was the producer on all the band's previous albums). • (01.02) Mieszko Talarczyk (vocals and guitar) of Nasum is missing in Thailand. Mieszko and his girlfriend went to Thailand to spend the holidays, and their bungalow was caught in the tsunami that has devastated the region, separating the two. Mieszko's girlfriend has sustained non-fatal injuries (broken legs and some lacerations), and is recovering in hospital, but the whereabouts of Mieszko are unknown. The band is still remaining hopeful that he's alive, please be ok Mieszko!

"I have such remorse for those families, and I am so sorry that they are losing their loved ones," Mary Clark said.
