  • (12/15) Here's the track listing for the Malevolent Creation BestOf CD. DISC 1: 'Seizure', 'In Cold Blood', 'Condemned', 'Nocturnal Overlord', 'Fine Art Of Murder', 'Scorn', 'Blood Brothers', 'Impaled Existence', 'Living In Fear', 'Manic Demise' 'To Die Is At Hand', 'Infernal Desire', 'Impaled Existence', 'Allegiance Of War', 'Mass Graves' DISC 2: 'Multiple Stab Wounds (live)', 'Eve Of The Apocalypse (live)', 'Slaughter Of Innocence (live)', 'Coronation Of Our Domain (live)', 'Monster (live)' and some Live video footage.

  • (11/18) Devin Townsend has written 5 songs so far for "Physicist", 'Spaceship Superstar', 'Material', 'Stay With Me', 'Namaste', and 'Dreaming Fractal'. The music has been called lots of things, but in short, it's not as angry as SYL, but angrier then his other material. The drum and bass tracks have already been recorded, we'll probably see the album early next year. • (11/09) Joe from Broken Hope has in fact left the band.
  • (11/07) According to DevyWorld news, Devin Townsend is in fact currently working on his "Physicist" project. The new SYL album is probably a long way off, because Devin wants to work on a new acoustic project after Physicist is finished. I'm sure it's all good.
  • (11/06) Apparently Joe Ptacek is NOT on tour with Broken Hope, instead their have the lead singer from Numskull doing vocals. No clue why or what the story is, all I can say is I saw the guy live, and he managed to trick me into believing he was Joe (he even has the super low voice).

  • (10/20) I have been told by a reliable source that the copy of "None So Vile" by Cryptopsy mentioned on Oct 16th is in fact a bootleg. Assuming this is true, all I can say is it's the highest quality bootleg I have ever seen, with a full booklet and well printed cover art (not to mention good quality sound). So, buyer beware, this may not be an official copy, but until it's re-released, a good alternative.
  • (10/16) Several bits of Fear Factory News. The band will be working on their 4th album in March of next year, probably a summer release on that one. They intend to go a little more groovier with their music, which is ok, because that's what they said they were going to do with their last CD, and their last CD will still good, just don't loose the double kicks guys, ok??!! The Live Australian album is on hold, and the "Edge Crusher" single should be out sometime just after christmas.
  • (10/16) According to a press release, Deftones' singer Chino Moreno will be renaming himself Pony 1, and then name the new album after himself. What the fuck? • (10/16) New album for Martyr called "Warp Zone" available early 2000.
  • (10/16) Nileis working on the new CD, will be recording in Dec, and will release the CD sometime in April probably.
  • (10/16) The long out of print "None So Vile" from Cryptopsy is, well, still out of print, sorta. Looks like Relapse will never be able to reissue the CD due to red tape and shit, however, I tried to order copies from several different places, and finally, I got the CD from GEMM. The ABERDEEN GROUP is selling copies of the CD, it's not the american release, it's a japanese import, but it's certainly not a CD-R, and has all the lyrics and excellent sound, and what can I say, it showed up to my place and I've been happy since. It's expensive, and I can't promise they won't run out of stock, but give them a try if you want this CD. It worked for me.
  • (10/16) Looks like Internal Bleeding didn't just miss the LA show, but are not participating at all in the first half of the tour. They will join Broken Hope and Malevolent Creation starting on Oct the 23rd. Visit their site for specific dates.

Also a "Messiah" soundtrack will be available this christmas (again, unconfirmed). And Demolition Racer will have several new Fear Factory songs, we may have to buy the game to hear the music since the songs probably won't be placed on any sort of CD or EP.

  • (05/08) Anyone who's been through Montreal knows about Rock En Stock, which used to be the source in the province for brutal death. Well, apparently (according to local papers, I haven't seen it with my own eyes yet) the police shut it down and took their entire inventory because the store was illegally selling bootlegs of live concerts by zillions of bands. About 30,000 CDs were taken. Are they guilty? Well, they do sell lots of bootlegs, so the question is, is what they did really illegal? I know I own lots of bootlegs (oh no, someone might come and arrest me now!), and tons of other metal fans do. Does this practice hurt the bands? In my own situation, no, because I buy all the official releases of a band as well as bootlegs, and since the band had nothing to do with producing the bootleg, they aren't loosing money. But there is the issue of copyright. As an artist myself (visual artist), I understand how annoying it is when someone uses my art without my permission. There's also the issue of quality, many bootlegs just plain suck, and if a band is worried that such a recording could affect their record sales in any way, they're quite wrong. And it does help spread the word, and give the band exposure. Anyways, if any of you have any opinions about this situation, send them via email to me and I'll print them in the zine.
