  • (05.02) As an aside to my recent review of the Dream Theater DVD set, the hypnotherapist on the CD is the voice of Terry Brown, and the reason he was not used on the live DVD is because he decided he wanted more money and so Dream Theater decided to tell him to stuff it. A real shame, because his voice really IS the voice of the hypnotherapist as far as I'm concerned.
  • Apr 2001

  • (04.01) Well, it looks like the Dying Fetus line up has undergone some major changes, and the only original member left will be John Gallagher. Basically, Jason the bass player / vocalist left many months ago to persue his own goals, then a fight broke out between John and the rest of the original members (Sparky and Kevin), and it ended with John kicking them out of the band. Now their official website says the tour will continue, but John will have a whole new lineup starting this summer. It will be a very different Dying Fetus from now on.

They have replaced bassist Doug Humlack with Julian Hollowell (AKA - Xaphan-guitarist for blackened metallers Kult Ov Azazel). • (03.18) New Tab Website just opened called Singularity Metal Tablature, lots of high quality tab, mainly bands that don't usually get tabbed (because their music is too complex such as Cryptopsy and Suffocation). Go check it out, but use IE5, Netscape doesn't work with it too well.

  • (03.03) Theory In Practice will start recording their new album in June.
  • (03.03) Sepultura will be in LA on April 8th, however, they are playing at the Palace, you may remember the palace is the venue that oversold Dream Theater tickets last year causing the cops to shut down the concert and causing a near riot, so I do encourage everybody to not go to this concert, and wait for the band to return to a new venue. Cryptopsy is performing that same night (see news item lower on this page), so why not come out to see them?

No clue on what will happen to the site. I did not know him personally, but I respected his hard work and love for the band, and he was way too young to die in such a sudden fashion. In band news, apparently both the original and digipak version of the new album will be out april 24th.
  • (02.10) For something a little different, visit this page to get a cd compilation called Flashback, it's a bunch of bands doing intro music to their favorite TV shows. • (01.05) News from Dying Fetus: "Dying Fetus wishes to announce the permanent departure of bassist and vocalist Jason Netherton. Jason left the band following the last date in Europe in Antwerpen, Belgium. The departure came about as a result of numerous personal reasons, and was on good terms as Jason wishes the band all the best. Dying Fetus will continue on, at this time as a 5-piece with replacements who have been lined up for the next tour with All Out War and Diecast. Presently, on bass guitar it is Derek Boyer (Deprecated) and on vocals Vince Matthews (Sadistic Torment, Autumn Dawn, Mucous Membrane)." How this will affect the Dying Fetus sound I don't know, Jason was such an integral part of the band, and the way his vocals played off the low gargling of John really gave them a distinct sound. I hope this all works out in the end, until then, the band has changed a few tour dates, check their site for details, oh ya, and Cryptopsy is no longer on their tour bill.
