1) DESPONDENCY:
Matriphagy
Kinda surprised to see a small band from Germany in the top spot, but
if I look at the hours spent listening to music this year, this CD is
top of the heap. Something about their ultra fast riffing just appeals
to me, check them out!

2) INIQUITOUS
MONOLITH: Monstrous Degradation
Not only ridiculously heavy, but quite inventive in the riff
department. Brutal death metal but with more to offer than just
chromatic riffs. Excellent work.

|
3) SKELETAL
REMAINS: Fragments Of The Ageless
For those who prefer something a little thrashier, this album is well
executed, riff laden thrash/death, songs that stick in your head.

|
4) WORMED:
Omegon
While not quite as good as some of their previous albums, this wormed
still provides the goods with ultra-complex time signatures and tempo
changes.
|
|
5) VOMITROCIOUS:
Dystopian Elegy: The Last Echoes of Dying Humanity Resonate in the
Aether
Ridiculously fast, and super-thick production, your ears will bleed
from the intensity.
|
|
6) NIGHTRAGE:
Remains Of A Dead World
Something more melodic on the list, the band still provides that
signature sound while still coming up with riffs that don't sound too
derivative. Nicely done!
|
|
7) ABORTED:
Vault Of Horrors
Aborted has probably shown up in my top 10 the most of any band, while
not every album is perfect, they really don't release anything half
assed. Always impressive.
|
|
8) ALGOR MORTIS:
Stages Of Death
Such amazingly sick vocal delivery, the music is great too.
|
|
9) FECUNDATION:
Moribund
Old school death metal in the style of old Suffocation / Deeds Of
Flesh, not quite as fast or brutal as some of the earlier albums on
this list, but still incredibly solid.
|
|
10) MALIGNANCY:
Discontinued
The sonic chaos continues, nice to see the band return
after a hiatus and provide more of their unique spin on death metal.
