will enter the studio around March to record their new album. Says Luc
Lemay: "So I was trying to get a new aesthetic together, but I just
couldn't find anything interesting to spark me up. And then I said,
'Hey, what if I take ingredients from all the records?' 'Cause I hadn't
written a riff with tremolo picking and thrash beats since 'Erosion'.
That's a long time. So what about writing riffs like that again? And
then I started blending this with dissonant riffs and everything, and
then, wow, it gave something really new. You recognize the band right
away, but it's very different from all the other records. So, that was
the creative process for this one. So I'm very excited for this one"

has some good news, his cancer is currently being held at bay, even
though he admits side effects of the treatment still give him a lot of
problems. But he's well enough that the band will be doing a number of
live performances over the next year. So no tour, but looks like the
band are getting out there to do what they can. Happy for Danny, I hope
his prognosis continues to improve.

Creation: Thank you all, again, for thinking of Phil during his
admission and his continued recovery. He has been taken out of the ICU
and is undergoing breathing
rehabilitation in a smaller facility, to regain his proper lung
capacity. It appears that he has beaten the bacterial infection and is
showing positive signs every day! He will remain in the hospital for a
short while longer, but all signs point to a solid recovery. We
sincerely hope that the next update can come from Phil, himself!"

has passed away at age 76, just 2 weeks after what was
billed as his final show. His contribution to metal cannot be

(07.21) Update on Phil Fasciana of Malevolent
Creation: "There is positive news to share regarding Phil's
condition. However, to understand the gravity of the situation, we need
to be fully transparent with the fact that when Phil was admitted to
the ICU, he was placed in an induced coma to avoid any intense strain
on his cardiovascular system during his intravenous treatment. Phil has
shown improvement, and the doctors are remaining positive based on
signs of his recovery, as his infection has almost cleared up! He is
slowly being taken off of breathing assistance, and he is responding to
his name as they attempt to communicate with him, but he is not out of
the woods just yet. He will likely be in the hospital for another week,
at least, but his overall condition is improving. We cannot express
enough how much his family, friends, and we as his brothers-in-arms
appreciate the continuing thoughts, hopes and prayers directed towards
his recovery. We will do our best to provide timely updates as they
become available and appropriate, based on further developments. Horns
