WHAT WERE MY FAVORITE ALBUMS OF 2006?

1) DECAPITATED: Organic Hallucinosis
I really feel Decapitated found their own voice with this record, it's super technical, super brutal, super precise, has insane doublebass and the riffs are really inventive. Everything a death metal album should be.
2) DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND: Sychestra
While not a pure metal album, Devin's latest solo album has some amazing songs, and fantastic atmosphere.
3) ANATA: The Conductor's Departure
I would have never guessed an Anata album would enter into my top 10, but this album is just so mesmerizing, from the great drumming to the layered guitar riffs, every time I put the album on, I just can't turn it off.
4) NAPALM DEATH: Smear Campaign
Pure sick brutality, I don't know how these guys keep it up. Perfect Napalm album.
5) STRAPPING YOUNG LAD: The New Black
Not as good as "Alien", but still plenty of brutal songs, and tons of must-listen riffs. Devin is a crazy man, and Gene is the master of the fast doublebass.
6) SUFFOCATION: Suffocation
Again, bad production like their last album, but the songs are way better, and they keep me coming back to this release.
7) SEPULTURA: Dante XXI
Reminds me of the old Sepultura way more than their last few albums, I have to admit I really enjoyed this cd.
8) UNMERCIFUL: Unmercifully Beaten
How fast can you play? Unmerciful tries to answer that question, and the answer is really fun to listen to.
9) CANNIBAL CORPSE: Kill
Another excellent album from the Corpse, good songs, good production, I wish there were more blastbeats at the beginning of the album, but otherwise, a solid release.
10) SKINLESS: Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead
Great comeback album, angry, fast, smacks you in the face.

VADER: Impressions in Red

Special Honorable Mention:
AEON: Bleeding The False
This album came out in late 2005, so it doesn't count for best of 2006, but I didn't buy it till 2006, and if I had bought it earlier, it would have easily made my top 10 list for last year. I highly recommend picking this up.
